What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy Is a fast growing and in demand manual hands on therapy.  Out West and East, the wait list to get into an Osteopath is 6 weeks to 6 months to many practitioners clouting their doors to new patients. The practitioner has extensive knowledge in anatomy, physiology and pathology. This knowledge is then applied using a vast bank of perfect techniques for what ails the client. Some of the techniques can relate to myofascial release, cranial sacral, visceral manipulations, osteoarticulations, manual lymph drainage and muscle energy techniques.

The practitioner will conduct an interview which is geared to treat the client ‘Wholistically’ noting information that others do not consider or include in their treatment plan. For instance, what is the clients ‘Birth Story’? As this plays a vital role in the recovery of ailments and give clues to mental health. Since the goal of the treatment is Wholistic, all four of the parts of the medicine wheel are incorporated, Mental, Physical, Spiritual, and Emotional health. One clients needs can vary, One client may require visceral manipulation due to surgeries, miscarriage and another client may require the therapist to bring the hips into alignment due to headaches, shoulder issues or low back pain. Osteopathy only and always will confront root cause and that is almost always the goal of each treatment.

A Manual Osteopathic Therapist (MOT) treats the body from a holistic approach. We respect and acknowledge that the body self regulates, self heals, and is constantly striving for a healthier state. We believe that structure and function are interrelated therefore we seek to improve the functionality of the skeletal system, the visceral system, the fascia system and the craniosacral system. In doing so, our client's adaptability to the daily stresses they encounter is improved.

MOT is deeply relaxing and works lightly and gently on the body. MOT is a gentle approach that can be performed on or off the body. It can be performed over the clothes or energetically off the body. The results are often quite notable and can be even more profound with a series of sessions.

MOT can be utilized to effectively treat a variety of health concerns including arthritis, asthma, menstrual cramps, migraines, neurological dysfunctions, provide pain relief, sciatica, support healthy digestive, pain relief, organ health, digestive issues, menstrual irregularities, fertility, cardiac and respiratory issues, as well as sleep problems, depression, anxiety, and the impact of stress on the body and mind.
